If you're in Berlin later this month (29th) come and say hello to the Burek crew at the Salon Zur Wilden Renate were they will host label showcase at Green Room. Line up include the resurgent hero of underground British techno Aubrey, Frankfurt/Zagreb/Berlin jetsetter Homeboy and Burek's very own Pytzek.
The UK's techno scene would be a much poorer place if Aubrey hadn't taken to the decks when he was twelve. With a career spanning over two decades from his first residency at eighteen, he forms part of a critical axis that includes other legendary DJs such as Carl Cox, Grooverider, Mr C and Colin Dale that shaped the sound of the UK's place in dance music history. As well as running his own Solid Groove, Textures, Dark and Cheap Knob Gags imprints he's produced and remixed for quality technoid labels such as Barba, Burek, Russ Gabriel's Ferox, Leftfield's Offshoot, Skudge, Mosaic, Sublime, Komplex De Deep and Translucent plus many more. With a multifaceted range of tastes, from hiphop, jazz and funk through to acidhouse, Detroit techno and Chicago house, he's been a constant fixture at festivals and clubs across the world.
Born in 2006 Homeboy started taking over Marko Pelaic' musical personality alowing him to focus on contagiously playful, danceable music. Honestly, Homeboy was always around: he's been following and nurishing Marko's musical growth through completely diverse bands genre vise, giving him time and space to notice his true calling was in absorbing all the bascis house music had to offer and adopting it to his personal style. Homeboy owns that style now though he lets Marko experiment with his sounds. Homeboys style's been recognized by Speak Recordings, Hypercolour, Burek and is now, thanks to Marko and his two co -founder friends, giving his musical imprint to House is OK label.
Homeboy performs his music live. For his performance he uses a laptop wired to synthesizers, drum machines and effects. Eclectic and seriously danceable, often playing with the boundaries of different genres like House, Techno & Disco.
Mario Kolonic Pytzek has been DJing since his teenage days, and now in his 30s he has two solid decades of career under his belt. He's gone through pretty much all segments of clubbing; from running a venue, organising events to DJing in quite a number of venues/festival across the Europe and region. On top of that, he's a proud co-owner of three labels inspired by authentic local motifs - Burek, Barba and Pomalo.
